Man impersonating doctor nabbed

Ahmedabad: A 35-year old man, who identified himself as a doctor handling medical insurance claims at a private hospital in Kankaria, was nabbed by the hospital staff and handed over to police.
    Govind Rabari, 35, a resident of Maninagar, approached a patient at Jankalyan Hospital in Kankaria on Friday afternoon. He identified himself as a representative of a private medical insurance firm and asked for case papers. Relatives of the patient were baffled as they had not applied for any such insurance.
    One of the relatives then informed the senior authorities of the hospital about the incident and a team rushed on the spot and questioned Rabari.
    “After changing his version a few times, he finally confessed that he was sent by a doctor to the hospital to get these details. He claimed that he represents an insurance company but we have not so far known any such health insurance company. Suspecting him to be a part of bigger con game, we roped in police and handed Rabari to them for further investigation," said Dr Jeetendra Shukla of Jankalyan Hospital.
    When contacted, DM Chauhan, inspector of Maninagar police station, told TOI that Rabari has been asked to furnish his details and credentials. "He has confessed of impersonating a doctor. We have asked him to reveal other persons in the scheme and how it worked. He will also be booked for trespassing," said Chauhan.
